Each team will have a salary cap of $200 to be dispersed amongst the major league roster. The only time a team will be allowed to be negative on Salary Cap is during the Off Season while player movement is occurring at a more rapid pace. During the season the Salary Cap will be strictly cohered to and no exceptions will be given. So plan wisely!
When a prospect is promoted to the active roster he will receive a raise to the league minimum salary. This salary raise will be applied to the player once he is promoted to the active roster. If the player is demoted and then promoted again the following season, he will receive the league minimum salary again. Salaries will not decrease however. Once a minor league player graduates to the majors he will have the same raise applied to his contract, unless he was promoted earlier that season. Once they are no longer eligible for the minors they will be shifted to an ARB contract instead of a MLC contract.
Major league player salaries can go as high as you are comfortable with, but if your cap gets locked up with bad contracts, your residence in this league will be called into question.
MLB salaries are to be in increments of $1 with $1 being the league minimum salary. All contracts, except for the FRAN contract, must have an even AAS among all years. That means there will be no back loading of contracts. If a player has a 4 yr contract with an AAS of $8 that means he will make $8 each of the 4 seasons.
Every team option in a players contract will have a mandatory $2 raise. So if the previously mentioned contract has 3yrs @ $8, and 1 Team Option, the (TO) will be for $10. If there is more than one team option in the contract, the second option must also have a $2 raise. For example, let's use Adrian Gonzalez.
If his contract is $8 for two years with a team option for years three and four, it will read like this;
12-13: $8, 14: $10 (TO), 15: $12 (TO)
To further breakdown this terminology:
12-13: $8 signifies the 2012-2013 seasons with a $8 salary for each
14: $10 (TO) signifies the 2014 season with a team option (TO) for $10
15: $12 (TO) signifies the 2015 season with a team option (TO) for $12
So to summarize this:
MLB minimum salaries are $1 with increments of $1, all guaranteed contract years must be equal in terms of salary, ie $8 for each, like in the example. Every team option requires a $2 raise from the previous years salary.
