We've got a few candidates for GM of the Year this year. Here's your chance to help decide:
Chris Felder (COL)
Case, as made by Rick Clark: I'd like to nominate Chris Felder. He took a last place Colorado team last year to a winning record this year, and while he didn't make the playoffs, he just missed out and was competing for a wild card spot all year. Nice signings in the offseason: Joe Panik, Mookie Betts and Carlos Carrasco all played very well for him. An active trader too, aquiring Ventura, Cespedes, Eaton, Trumbo and many other players that helped him improve this year. His record improvement (going from 2-18-1 last year to 10-8-3 this year) was the best in our league - an 8 game improvement, even better than Toronto's 6.5 game improvement.
Kyle Pulek (OAK)
Case, as made by Shelby Fike: I will nominate Kyle. Not only did he win the league for the 2nd time, but he provides some incredible data and analysis each and every year.
Simon Allan (TB)
Case, as made by Andy Barnes: I'd like to nominate Simon. He had a solid run this year and has remained an active member of the league since the beginning. All of this in spite of a large time difference, which at times could mean early mornings or late nights to participate in drafts or alter lineups at the last minute.
Chris Bartholomew (TEX)
Case, as made by Brian Thar: I want to nominate Chris Bartholomew. He's routinely a great team despite looking like it won't be. I know this is a 1 season award though, so I'll focus on this year. His best ADP player is Greg Holland at 56. He finished the year with 12 players that weren't drafted in standard leagues. He bought in on Kendrys Morales (ADP Undrafted) and Alex Rodriguez (ADP 217). But the best move was Jake Arrieta, who I personally questioned when he franchised, but Chris turned out to be exactly on point with that move and now he has him locked in for a good value for the next 3 years.
Kevin Donahue (TOR)
Case, as made by Kyle Pulek: I'm going to throw Kevin Donahue out there as my nomination. He excelled this year to the top of the league in his first winning season. His four years have gone 4 to 6 to 9 to 15 in wins, so he's been getting better. I was skeptical that he would get it done this year, and even though his playoff run was short, I think he deserves a nomination based on a great regular season.
In another way, he's always been entertaining in the league and never afraid to keep it lively. For those reasons, he's getting my nomination.
